Financial support

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday October 18, 2010, 05:00 PM

To stimulate collaborative research and to increase exchange of ideas within ReSMiQ, it was decided to set up a few student scholarships in a form of a financial support for graduate students as follows:

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Duration of four (4) months
  • Starting  01 September 2010
  • 4000 $for the whole duration

ELIGIBILITY

  • The research project must be codirected by at least two professors, members of ReSMiQ, each affiliated to a different institution. At least one of them must be affiliated to a ReSMiQ member institution
  • The student must be registered as a full time graduate student in one of the ReSMiQ's member institutions for the total duration of the scholarship
  • The project must be related to the ReSMiQ's research program
  • A candidate cannot receive this financial support for a period of more than height (8) months, consecutively or not
  • A candidate cannot be the receipient of a ReSMiQ scholarship or financial support at the time of this competition,
  • The student MUST DEMONSTRATE that he applied to other financing in the form of a scholarship during the course of the current semester and that he needs help from ReSMiQ to pursue his studies whil waiting for the results

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Be eligible according to the eligibility conditions mentionned above
  • Excellence of the academic record and research potential
  • Participation to ReSMiQ's activities (conferences, intensive courses, seminars, symposiums, etc)
  • Applications will be evaluated following these weighted criteria
    • Academics - M.Sc.=60% / Ph.D.=40%
    • Research work - M.Sc.=20% / Ph.D.=40%
    • Application quality, awards and scholarships - M.Sc.=20% / Ph.D.=20%

APPLICATION

Each applicationMUST BE APPROPRIATELY ASSEMBLED AND SUBMITTED IN PDF FORMAT (ONE FILE ONLY) and conatain the following information :

  • The application form (PDF to download)
  • A letter of application (one page single spaced, 12 points min.) in which you specify :
    • The competition to which you are applying
    • The title of the project
    • The diploma sought
    • The names and affiliation of the supervisor and co-supervisors
    • A brief abstract of the project
    • The reason motivating the application

The letter must be signed by the applicant and the research supervisors.

  • Student's curriculum vitae must contain :
    • Your name
    • Your current address
    • At least one phone number
    • An e-mail address
    • Status in Canada
    • Previous experience and diplomas
    • Scholarships, awards and publications (if applicable)
  • Student's transcripts including undergraduate studies, from the university registrar (one PDF + originals sent to administrative office of ReSMiQ).
  • Proof of scholarship competition application (e.g. NSERC, FQRNT).
